Alta Spring Ski Meeting

Diehard shredders and powder hounds rejoice! Winter lives on in Alta, UT where you can bask in some of the finest spring skiing in all of North America. Situated high atop Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta is less than an hour's drive from the Salt Lake City airport, (Catch an early morning flight from the East and be there for lunch and an afternoon of skiing.) New this year at Alta is the Collins high-speed quad lift that takes you from the base all the way to the top of Germania. If you prefer long groomers over the shorter more challenging terrain of Alta, take the Sugarloaf lift over to Snowbird and for a few extra bucks enjoy the “corduroy” and some great scenery in a true party atmosphere. If you go, be sure to ride the Snowbird tram for a firsthand experience of what a sardine feels like. It’s an awesome ride but, trust me, definitely not for the claustrophobic!
Our meeting site is the Alta Peruvian Lodge located at the base of Alta. The lodge features every amenity you could hope for including a comfortable great room, outdoor heated swimming pool, party-size hot tub, on-site ski rental, and for those with any energy left, a busy saloon that’s one of Alta's hotspots. For a quieter venue, drop into the library after dinner for a full-length movie or just curl up by the fire with a good book.
To put back some of those calories you burn off skiing, you are going to need some chow and the Alta Peruvian offers some of the best in the canyon. The day begins with the famous AP buffet featuring a variety of breakfast foods including made to order omelets and freshly baked breads and pastries. Lunch consists of a selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and occasionally light entrees; however, if you just cannot bear the thought of leaving the slopes at midday, they’ll pack you a bag lunch at no extra charge! Dinner (supper if y’all come from the South) is an elegant table service affair with your choice of entrees from a selection of meats, fish, pasta, and poultry. (Ostrich or Elk, anyone?) The best part? It's all included in your meeting fees!
